From spring to early summer is a fantastic time to visit the Valencia and Alicante regions.  The weather gets progressively warmer as you approach high summer and most rides can start and finish in short sleeves. Typically, it's dry and sunny in most locations, although early mornings can still feel cool earlier closer to Spring.
 

Temperatures in high summer are 30c and sometimes higher. Staying in the mountains, away from the hot and humid coast, means that with an early start, cooler morning cycling can be enjoyed up to lunch time throughout the summer. Rainfall is rare everywhere.

We don't recommend staying near the coast during high summer months. Thereis too much traffic and too many tourists, the weather is not best suited to cycling. It's  hot, extremely humid and very busy.

Late summer and autumn is one of the best times to visit the region. Days are typically  warm, sunny and long, without the high heat of summer. The mornings are warmer than the Spring and the humidity lower, especially as you leave the coast.  Late afternoon or evening showers are rare but significantly more likely in the Marina Alta region around Denia and Calpe.

Massively popular for good reason with many visitors coming to enjoy the coast and mountains. A little preparation does help.

November is actually the wettest month across the region, more so in the Maria Alta comarca (Denia & Xabia) which sees significantly more rain than Ontinyent through to March. Ontinyent benefits from a semi-arid climate during this time.
 

Mountain mornings are cooler in Ontinyent and sunrise is late. The days are sunny, skies are blue and much longer than northern Europe. There may be a 15c difference from morning to afternoon, so late morning starts are the order of the day.
